Support for the community-based monitoring system of human rights and environmental impacts linked to oil developments in the Albertine region

Uganda

  • Objective: Collaboration on joint documentation and advocacy activities with public and private actors regarding the human rights and environmental impacts linked to oil developments in the Albertine region.
  • Expected results:
    • Result 1: Improve access to legal remedies: Affected community members receive legal support and representation to seek redress for documented human rights violations.
    • Result 2: Strengthen community monitoring: Community and civil society monitors are supported to continue documenting and reporting human rights impacts of oil and gas activities.
    • Result 3: Increase advocacy at national and international levels: Key issues arising from monitoring activities are presented to relevant parties, including at high-level forums, to promote accountability and community protection.
