Protect the rights and freedoms of spokespersons of the Congolese population

Congo (the Democratic Republic of the)

  • Objectives:
    • Contribute to the protection and effective realisation of human rights and public freedoms in DRC.
    • Support Human Rights Defenders (HRD) and all citizens engaged by their side in favor of the promotion and defence of human rights to strengthen their space for action and participation in public debate.
  • Expected results:
    • R1: Human rights organisations, their members and other civil society actors benefit from a legal protection allowing them to exercise their role in promoting and protecting human rights for the benefit of the communities.
    • R2: the rights of detainees in situation of pre-trial detention are promoted and vindicated.
  • Intervention areas:
    • R1: national territory;
    • R2: Haut-Katanga, East Kasai, Kinshasa.
  • Partners: Haut-Katanga, Kasai-Oriental and Kinshasa/Matete Bar Associations
  • Funding: Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the DRC
  • Duration: 3 years (July 2021 > July 2024)
