Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) is today releasing its 2024 Annual Report, which pays tribute to those who, across the world, put their freedom – and sometimes their lives – on the line to defend fundamental rights.
In 2024, in countries such as Niger, Tunisia, the DRC and Uganda, leaders and members of partner NGOs were arrested simply for standing up for justice, equality and the freedoms of all.
Their work is all the more crucial at a time when authoritarian regimes are gaining strength and so-called “democratic” regimes are also showing authoritarian tendencies.
“As fundamental rights are attacked, civil society resists.”
This report looks back at the small and large victories achieved in 2024 by ASF, its partners, and the communities it works with. Despite hostile contexts, these actions demonstrate that it is still possible to build fairer and inclusive societies.
