As the development of oil projects in Uganda enters a critical new phase, human rights abuses are intensifying. The report HEATED: Human Rights, Frontline Communities, and Oil in Uganda highlights serious abuses affecting local communities, particularly concerning projects led by industry giants such as TotalEnergies and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

Against this alarming backdrop, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Civic Response on Environment and Development (CRED), and Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) invite you to a Justice ExPEERience Talk dedicated to analysing these crucial issues and expounding their recommendations. This webinar will address the impacts of oil activities on the rights of local communities.

These projects are often presented as levers for economic development. However, behind this appearance of progress, the HEATED report reveals a darker reality:

The documented abuses are not isolated incidents and do not stop at the violations mentioned above. They reflect a development model that sacrifices human rights.
