Strengthening civil society organisations in Tunisia

  • Objective: Strengthen emerging civil society working on human rights and development in Tunisia
  • Activities:
    • Setting up and running a framework for capitalisation and exchange between the stakeholders concerned with a view to developing a referencing mechanism
    • Design and establishment of the Civil Society Accelerator
    • Development and implementation of a training curriculum, working tools and coaching plans for associations based on collective and individual needs 
    • Development of awareness raising and networking activities for young people in universities and youth centres
    • Consultation with relevant actors to design differentiated and innovative funding mechanisms for civil society 
    • Design, operationalisation of funding mechanisms and grant-making
    • Monitoring and support for the implementation of funded actions 
    • Capitalisation and modelling of funded projects 
    • Production and publication of updated maps on the dynamics of associative influence
    • Supporting and strengthening existing and emerging dynamics of influence at national and local level
    • Constitution and facilitation of multi-stakeholder taskforces for CSO advocacy follow-ups at European and international level: this activity will allow for better coordination of actors from different networks and the creation of partnerships to explore new models, enabling them to take ownership of decision-making mechanisms at international and European level
    • Development of an online resource platform bringing together legal obligations according to the life cycle of the association 
    • Training of lawyers, bailiffs, notaries, tax experts and accountants specialised in associative work in Tunisia 
    • Development of a transparency and good governance label for associations
    • Setting up mechanisms to monitor freedom of association in Tunisia
    • Advocacy on issues of civic space including aid effectiveness and sustainability of associative action
