About the Project

The project documents human rights violations affecting refugees and migrants in Libya and Tunisia and beyond, including detention, abuse, pushbacks, and forced displacement. Refugees in Libya is widely recognized as a reliable source of first-hand information, providing evidence and testimony from people on the move. The project aims to strengthen the organization as a key actor in public,
political, legal, and media discourse on migration in the Central Mediterranean region. It addresses the limited visibility of refugees’ experiences by amplifying their voices in European debates and
policymaking. A central focus is raising awareness of the consequences of Italian and EU migration policies, particularly border externalization through the MoU between Italy and Libya. The project highlights the human rights impacts of these policies and seeks to promote accountability, strengthen advocacy, and contribute to long-term policy change protecting refugees and migrants rights and dignity.
